Look at the "returned" column next to the games' RTPs, which are all between 96.06% and 96.55%. Over a few thousand spins the real return lands far above or below that, depending mostly on how many bonuses came and how big they were. That's not a fault in the game. It's what medium and high volatility look like over an evening's worth of spins, and it's why no single session tells you anything about a game's RTP.

The last two columns show where the money comes from. Base spins on their own pay back only part of the bet; the rest of the RTP sits in the free spins. That's typical of the series: the base game keeps you going, the bonus pays.

Every game tells the same story. Between 72% and 84% of spins paid nothing, so the balance slides between wins, and most of the climbs are free spins rounds: 79 of the 98 spins that paid 50x or more started the bonus. Then compare The Dog House with Dice Show. They share the same rules and the same 96.51% RTP, and we played about 6,000 spins of each. One finished 1,093 bets down, the other 632 bets up.

Most buys lose. A few pay for the rest.

Across every game, the median 100x buy paid back well under its price, while the average sat much closer to it. The gap between the two is the whole story of bonus buys: the typical round loses money, and a small number of big rounds pull the average up. If you buy once, you're far more likely to get the typical round than the big one.

The rules give every buy an RTP within a tenth of a point of normal play, so a buy isn't a better deal. It's the same return, packed into fewer, bigger swings. More in our bonus buy guide.

Here is each bought round on its own, placed by how much of its price it paid back. The grey cloud left of the dashed line is every buy that lost money; the orange dots to the right paid back at least what they cost.

Every row is mostly grey. The few orange dots far to the right, rounds that paid five to twenty times their price, are what keep the average close to the RTP.

Barrels

How many free spins the barrels really give

Five games start their free spins with nine barrels, each showing 1, 2 or 3 spins, for a total between 9 and 27. If every number were equally likely, the average would be 18.

It isn't. In our rounds the barrels showed mostly ones, the totals bunched between 10 and 14, and only a handful of rounds reached 20 or more. A big barrel count is rare; plan on a short round.

Free spins won from the nine barrels in 590 rounds of five games. Average 12.3; the most common total was 12. Hover a bar for its count.

Megaways 1000

How often the big multipliers land

Megaways 1000 draws each wild's multiplier from eight steps between 1x and 1,000x. The rules don't say how likely each step is, so we counted every wild in our base game spins and in the Random Wilds rounds we bought at 100x: 3,209 in all.

The small steps dominate: 97% of those wilds carried 1x, 2x or 3x, and only 7 reached 25x or more. That explains how the game plays: long stretches of ordinary wins, and the rare spin where a big multiplier meets another wild on the same way. The 500x and 2,500x buys exist to skip that wait, and they price it in.

What we learned from each game

The Dog House

With no buy, every bonus here came the slow way: 30 free spins rounds in 6,045 spins, about one every 202. The barrels gave 12.0 spins on average, and a round paid 75.3x on average, 28.1x at the median.

A round ended with 2.9 sticky wilds on average. The best paid 379x, while half of all rounds paid less than 28.1x, so the bonus is often modest.

We alternated the two modes over 120 buys at 100x. Raining Wilds averaged 87.5x (median 39.0x); Sticky Wilds averaged 122x (median 62.5x).

A round ended with 3.6 sticky wilds on average. The best paid 410x, while half of all rounds paid less than 79.1x, so the bonus is often modest.

The cap

How rare the max win is

The rules screens give the max win but never the odds of hitting it. Six of the games carry that figure in the settings they load when they start, and we copied it from there. It is the game's own estimate of how often a round reaches the cap.

Even the most generous is in the millions of rounds. For scale, Dog or Alive's max win, at 1 in 138.9 million, is almost exactly as rare as a EuroMillions jackpot, and Royal Hunt's is about 200 times rarer than a Powerball jackpot. Nobody should play a Dog House game expecting the max win.

Method

How we collected the data

Pragmatic Play's free demos run on the same game servers as the real-money games: the reels are drawn on the server and the game in your browser only shows the result. We sent the demo the same requests its own autoplay sends, one spin at a time, and saved every answer.

Bet: the minimum, $0.20, in virtual demo credits. Results are in multiples of the bet, so they hold at any stake.
Base spins: normal play, no ante bets or super spins.
Buys: every buy option, played to the end. In the two Megaways games we alternated the free spins modes.
Versions: the demo versions, whose rules list the RTPs on our RTP page. Casinos may run other versions.

What this data can't tell you. A few thousand spins per game is far too few to measure an RTP; that takes millions. Our numbers show how often things happen and how the games behave, not what you'll win. Past spins don't change future ones, and none of this is a system for beating a slot.
